I then tried to start my exising windows 7 workstation that works on Player 6. Vmware-installer -uninstall-product vmware-player

I used the following commands to uninstall then install the 12.5.2 version. I was able to successfully upgrade from version 6 of VMWare player to version 12.5.2. Smart Card certificates work fine for all other websites and applications. These are not security best business practices and boy does my organization like their best business practices. Likewise, I do not want to login to Windows and/or open Internet Explorer with my Administrator certificate. The vSphere Web Client does not prompt me for certificates, so I cannot switch to my other certificate. I can log in with Smart Card authentication if I select "Use Windows Session Authentication." However, I have multiple certificates and do not want to use my Windows session certificate to administer the vCenter Server. Installed the Client Integration Plugin Added my vCenter Server FQDN to the Local Internet sites and Trusted Sites (through Group Policy). I did do the following two steps in order to progress my issue slightly: I therefore get untrusted certificate warnings before I log in. I have done the same steps as the Original Poster except that I have not replaced my SSL and user certificates with trusted ones. I am stuck with the error, "Make sure the smart card is inserted properly.
